The events for the Ravelympics have finally been released. Most probably I will be competinh in WIPS Wrestling, possibly with a bit of Sweater Triathlon and Cable Steeplechase thrown in.

I recently picked up an old WIP. (That's what re-organising your stash does!) The Ten stitch blanket is so addictive. Suddenly you run out of yarn, because you've just been sitting there knitting and knittig without noticing how far you've come.

twice as nice

I seem to have developed a slight fixation with the Dahlia shawl pattern, because I am making two versions at the same time. Top one is in Semilla fino 100% organic wool, bottom one is Drops Alpaca.

I decided to go with the alpaca yarn after all, because I liked the softness of it. I'm hoping blocking will eventually help with stitch definition.

eternal sunshine of the swatch

I am swatching for the Dahlia Shawl in Interweave Crochet Spring 2011, but I am having trouble finding just the right yarn. From top to bottom: Färgkraft 1-ply wool, Drops Alpaca and Lodband Einband. I find they are all too dense, compared to the little photo in the pattern. I want a nice drape, so alpaca would probably be perfect. But it's quite difficult and slippery to work with. The other two wool yarns are just a bit too "stiff", although I assume they will soften with use. 

And why don't I just go and buy the yarn stated in the pattern? Well, I thought I should perhaps use some of the endless amounts of stash I already have. 

I'm sooo changeable

This weekend I started knitting Lightweight Mountain Peaks shawl, but it just wasn't working for me. So instead I frogged it and started a long-awaited project from my queue: Laminaria!
