So a new month has begun and that means I should dig into the UFO stash and pick my "new" project. No need to mention that I failed miserably with January's UFO. I took it out for a photo session and then promptly forgot about it after putting it back in the box again.

So this month...

I have a few contenders:
Bianca's Jacket - a design from an old IK. To make things more fun I decided to use 3 different yarns held together! Oh, and also to knit the body in one piece up to the yoke part.
Oblique - still only one arm to go.
October Frost - a wonderful cable knit, I have just reached the armholes on the back piece.
A pair of cabled kilt socks - I just found the other skeins that I thought were lost, so now I can (potentially) finish these!
Dilba silk wrap - not much left of this one either
Spider's Web shawl - a very simple shawl I'm knitting in brown Jamieson's Ultra.

This is quite possibly the oldest UFO I have in my stash. It is nearly 20 years old! How do I know?

Well, I know approximately when I bought the yarn. My then boyfriend (who also got a really nice fisherman's sweater in the same yarn and no, we didn't break up then, we broke up much later) had friends with a summer house near the woolen mill Östergötlands Ullspinneri.

I remember that I asked to be driven there. We had no car of our own, nor any licenses. It was a great visit, before they got "famous". We were shown around the mill and saw the prototypes for the baby blanket with the lambs. I bought yarn. Of course. Among others, this Visjö in a light grey shade.

The pattern is from Elle. That also helps me date the knitting, since Elle no longer has knitting patterns in their issues. (I even have a really old and crinkled-up French Elle pattern somewhere!)

In any case, this is my UFO for January. Although, I must admit I seriously doubt I will actually do anything about this knitting. Somehow I like the idea of it as a time capsule. Also, the arms are knit on needles 2,5mm... Just not so tempting.

Therefore, I ave decided to join the 2011 challenge over at this blog. It's all about getting those old UFOs into shape. 12 unfinished objects will get a make-over during this year.

The first "patient" will be blogged on Friday the 7th.
